Hexagon

Spatial Audio Sound System and Compositions · FoRTE Grant Recipient

In September 2025, I was awarded the FoRTE program, which is funding my Hexagon project with €25,000. This project combines technical and artistic approaches with the goal of bringing spatial audio closer to both audiences and artists. Hexagon consists of the construction of a fully modular spatialized sound diffusion system, as well as the composition of two dedicated musical works.

The first will be an electroacoustic piece intended to be presented on the spatialized system, continuing the acousmatic tradition. This work will be presented at La Pop peninsula in Paris on December 4–5, 2026. The second will take the form of a live electronic performance. This performance will be presented at Mains d’Œuvres in Saint-Ouen on January 29, 2027.

In the short term, the objective is to present works in which spatialization is conceived from the very beginning of the creative process. In the longer term, the idea is to bring this system into venues where artists can appropriate it and create new compositional paradigms.

Construction of the diffusion system began in early 2026 in Bordeaux. The company Lab.Acoustics, led by Maxime Labasse, is responsible for the system’s design and construction. Completion is scheduled for summer 2026. The final system will consist of 4 subwoofers and 8 full-range loudspeakers, offering a wide range of sound reinforcement and spatialization possibilities.

Mental Ghost

2026 · Spatial Audio Live A/V · With Émilie Zawadzki

Mental Ghost is an immersive scenographic installation conceived for a machine-based live performance, where spatialized sound and light merge into a living ecosystem, co-created with artist Émilie Zawadzki.

Linear LED structures, scattered throughout the performance space, form a suspended network in a state of constant tension. They are enveloped in circular translucent veils, like ghostly halos, through which light diffracts and dissolves. Embedded within this luminous material, loudspeakers emit abstract, organic, and at times abrasive sonic textures. The LEDs respond to these sounds like an overheated nervous system, creating a dynamic interplay between light and audio.

The audience is invited to move beneath and around this suspended constellation, immersed in an ever-evolving audiovisual field.

In January 2025, the project received financial support from the Culture Moves Europe programme, enabling a two-week residency at SPÆS Lab in Berlin. Mental Ghost has also received support from the Césaré National Centre for Musical Creation in Reims through the confirmation of a research and development residency scheduled for early 2027.
